Many of my clients ask these same questions and often answer "yes" to most of them. I’ve been there too, and I know how uncomfortable it can be.
Many of my clients ask these same questions and often answer "yes" to most of them. I’ve been there too, and I know how uncomfortable it can be.
I know if you're reading this, you don’t want to give up on your dreams.
There’s a part of you that wants to move forward and make an impact. The longer we deny this part, the harder it is to reconnect with our passion. Now is the best time to take action and get your dreams!
Procrastination isn't about laziness!
Many of my life coaching denver clients say they think they procrastinate on their goals because they're "lazy" or "lack willpower." In reality, procrastination is a response to stress. When you procrastinate, you're attempting to alleviate the stress associated with a task by avoiding it. This stress arises in your nervous system due to disconnection between your mind and body.
It's like your mind wants to go left while your body wants to go right, creating inner tension. Suddenly, you find yourself grabbing your phone or doing something else to distract yourself from this internal conflict.
The Solution
Somatic / body-based coaching is an antidote to procrastination. As I mentioned earlier, procrastination is often a symptom of an overwhelmed nervous system and an internal conflict between your mind and body. Somatic coaching can help you resolve this internal conflict, release the blocks that hold you back, and calm your nervous system, making it easier to take action and stay motivated. This mind and body connection is the core of my coaching style, making it the first pillar of my coaching practice.
Here are 4 pillars of my life coaching denver practice:
1. Mind and Body Connection.
2. Purpose.
3. Motivation.
4. Plan and Reward System.
1. Mind and body connection.
-
Increase your energy
-
Increase a sense of internal stability
-
Release blocks and calm your nervous system.
Our subconscious mind controls 95% of our daily operations, while only 5% is governed by our conscious thinking brain. Our body/soma is essentially our subconscious mind. This means that without getting our body on board, creating lasting change is incredibly difficult. When we try to force change using only our conscious mind (reading, thinking, talking), we are fighting against the vast power of our subconscious, making success elusive and energy-draining.
Somatic coaching is effective because, instead of fighting the subconscious mind, it directly engages with, regulates it and brings it onboard. When our mind and body are on board we can access all 100% of ourselves to create the future we would like.
2. Meaning
-
Discover what truly matters to you.
For a long time, I felt deeply unfulfilled despite achieving many notable milestones. I moved to a different continent without my parents at 18, secured a prestigious job in a foreign country, bought an expensive dream car, lived in a beautiful lakeside home, and married a wonderful woman. Yet, despite these accomplishments, I felt empty inside. I knew how to achieve goals, but there was no meaning or consistency in my pursuits.
Initially, I followed the shallow symbols of success that I had heard about all my life. While these achievements were great, I never delved deeper. Throughout my life, I was exposed to advice about what I SHOULD do, making decisions based on external expectations. I never deeply explored what was meaningful to me personally, neither at school nor at home. Pursuing these goals, I was unaware that I was chasing someone else's dreams until I achieved them and fell into depression.
When I start working with my clients, I focus on exploring their meaning and life values. I can help you either discover your meaning or deepen it, ensuring that your goals align with what truly matters to you. This exploration is the foundation of a fulfilling and consistent life journey.
3. Motivation
-
Learn to manage dopamine for a sustained state of flow.
-
Instead of pushing yourself, discover strategies to feel naturally motivated and energized.
For as long as I remember myself starting new things was always hard for me and the only way I could make things happen was by PUSHING myself into doing them. As you can imagine, constantly PUSHING myself without feeling any PULL to do things ended up in me going from burnout to burnout. Deep down, I knew that it is not how all people operate, but I didn't know a better way until I came across some cutting-edge neuroscience research about neurotransmitters. What caught my attention the most was the relation between the DOPAMINE molecule and motivation. That research talked about how to manage dopamine and practical ways to increase dopamine.
When I put that into practice, I was blown away. For most of my day, I was in a state of FLOW, being super immersed in the process, enjoying the process, and being very productive, while PUSHING very little throughout my day. I was sold. What surprised me even more is that when I started introducing this idea to my life coaching clients and integrating this knowledge into their lives, they were benefiting from this pretty significantly and consistently. They experienced a significant boost of energy that they now could utilize to create the life they wanted.
So, the second pillar of my life coaching denver practice is MOTIVATION since it is what the result of the DOPAMINE management. When I work with my life coaching clients when we get to this step I provide psychoeducation about DOPAMINE and help them with DOPAMINE management. I can help you come up with specific strategies that will lead to you feeling more MOTIVATED and experience a state of FLOW throughout the day.
4. Reward system
-
Create a robust action plan that acknowledges your wins and builds confidence.
-
Setting high standards without recognizing achievements creates stress. Together, we'll celebrate your wins and build your competence.
Throughout my life I had really high standards for myself and acknowledging my wins was quite difficult. I thought that keeping myself "hungry" all the time is a good thing. What ended up happening I had constant feeling of BEING BEHIND. This feeling was creating a lot internal stress and was holding me back from feeling a sense of COMPETENCE as well as holding me back from experiencing a state of FLOW when things are flow out the person effortlessly and organically.
What I now know is that giving your self rewards along the way not only makes the process more effortless and fun, but also more productive. I can help you create a robust plan on how to get to your dreams, that will not only create a sense of direction but also will help you see your wins along the way and help you build your CONFIDENCE and COMPETENCE.
